A Private Walk With MRSA:
A Tribute To A Life Well Lived
This is the most difficult moment in this book’s creation.
The entire book was a challenge, as it began while my
mother was in a coma brought on by MRSA, and it is
finishing, some ten weeks after her death -- also by MRSA.
This book and its research have scared the life out of me.
And if you are reading it, MRSA has also scared you and
that is why you’ve purchased it. There are many facets to
the Grim Reaper, but in the study of this disease and the
hold it is grasping in global populations, we see his face
a little more deeply and darkly. Our family has indeed
lived with the lurker on the doorstep for six years.
We found, as a family, that once MRSA has gotten a
stronghold in an ill, older person with other problems
(diabetes, heart disease, etc.) -- there is not a lot that
can be done except to live life to the fullest. For
younger, heartier souls, there is much hope and new cures
are coming out frequently. You have a lot of control over
this disease, just in how you approach it with hygiene and
cleanliness. And if you take upon yourself the
responsibility of overseeing your loved one’s care in
hospital or nursing home, you can also make a large change
in those places, with a great deal of added safety for your
loved one with MRSA.
Mary Carolyn Lee Carson is now gone from this earthly
plane, but her spirit survives in hearts and minds of
countless thousands. My mother was a business woman. She
ran my grandfather’s business after his death. For many
years, she personally placed teachers from one coast to the
other, pairing exact fits between teachers and schools.
My parents also had a small publishing house that has been
highly successful for 35 years, and my mother was an
authoress. Her knowledge of Native American signs and
symbols is unsurpassed. Her three-book series on the
history and ghost sites of Oklahoma, USA, is also
unsurpassed. An avid reader from France who plans to move
to Oklahoma, in part because of her Oklahoma books, said
this to me on her passing:
“Let me offer you my most sincere sympathy for the loss of
your mother. It's strange, but I myself feel like I had
lost a distant friend. I would like to tell you so much
more -- the truth is, my English is not good enough to
exactly express my feeling. But I can tell you that I would
have been very happy and honored to meet Mary Carson. Maybe
I'm wrong, but the more I try to imagine your mother, the
more I'm convinced she lived the life she wanted.
And I think that's the most important of all important
things in life.
Needless to say, I would love to collaborate with you, in
a way or another. Not only it would certainly be a great
experience, but I can't think of a better homage to Mrs.
Mary Carson :) ”
~Yann Megg
Yann and I have spoken on collaborating on a second
edition of the Oklahoma books. Yann is a photographer, and
this 3-volume, awesome set of historical writings will be a
testimonial to my mother’s life. I just wish she could be
here to see it.
My sister is head nurse of the night shift in the nursing
home where Mom spent much time in the past few years. To
show the level of how MRSA grabs you -- she has wanted to
write on medical issues for a very long time. I invited her
to contribute to this book, but for the intense sorrow,
seen from eyes that see this disease in action every day,
she declined. When this goes into second edition, I am sure
her contribution will be powerful.
Take control, good friends. We are smarter than the bugs.
If you follow this well-researched information, you are far
ahead of most out there. Be well, be happy, and thank you
for visiting this book.
